  • Izukogen Village of Handicraft Workshops At the foot of the mountain where the bamboo forest grows, institutions full of Japanese atmosphere gather here, such as Akazawa Kannon, pottery-making workshop Yahata no Kama, Soba-making workshop Kannontei, Nigiri Sushi-making workshop Akazawa. You can have delicious local fish dishes in Restaurant Akazawa, and buy dry foods and seafood in the souvenir shops nearby. Just drive a car here to Izukogen and you can enjoy handicraft experiences, shopping easily.
    3 hours drive from Kinki, Kanto area, or other major cities, along the Route 135 in Izukogen in Itou city, Shizuoka Prefecture, equipped with large parking space where big-size buses can park easily.
  • Feels like a sushi craftsman When you put on the working clothes and hat, you would feel like a sushi craftsman.
    Follow the instructions and make a hand-formed sushi. Take a handful of rice and gently knead it. Put the toppings on it, and you get a hand-formed sushi made on your own.
    It seems easy but surprisingly take some practice to master.
    After finish kneading all the rice and toppings, enjoy the sushi with everyone.
    Even though a little bit clumsy, sushi made by yourself would be tasty no matter what.

    It is not an exaggeration to say the ingredients of sushi is the key to making delicious sushi.
    We provide plenty of fresh seafoods caught from the ocean of Izu!
    The rice is grew by contract farmers in Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa Prefecture.
    The sweet and delicious vinegar is made from the traditional big bucket in Kisai city.
    We use wasabi grew with the clear water from Amagi, Izu.
